You started a business because you have a lot of passion. But somewhere down the line you either lost passion for some of the services you offer or, more commonly, you realize that you offer services you thought would be profitable, but the emotional tradeoff is no longer worth it. You don't have to sacrifice. It's not an either or situation. Either I can make a lot of money OR I can enjoy what I'm doing. YOU CAN HAVE BOTH! I am a firm believer that if you love what you are doing the way that you show up for your audience will be more effective because you have found alignment with your passions and business offers.
Show up as the REAL YOU (aka the best version of you) and align your business with your lifestyle and way of being.
Here are three ways to do just that:
Offer services you enjoy doing and eliminate the rest
It may seem obvious, but soooo many business owners continue to offer services and make products that they dread. You may be feeling trapped by tradition or are fearful to stop offering something that has been profitable in the past, so you continue to keep your list of services as is. I think you should ditch this stuff. When you pursue what lights you up, it's truly amazing how much easier it is to make sales, attract more of what you want, and feel energized while you're at it.
Infusing a good strategy into transitioning your offers is important so you don't find yourself in a less-than-ideal financial situation, but I am alllll for the calculated risks. Do more of what you want to do in business and less of what you feel like you have to do. It's a powerful shift.
Stop watering your personality down to keep other people comfortable
If you are a solopreneur, you are your brand. Stop trying to show up on Instagram in the same way other people in your industry are. Start showing up as you. Lean into what makes you different. If other people aren't doing it in your industry that is not a reason to not go for it. In fact, the things that make you different are the things that make you shine. People are tired of the same old same old. If you're a photographer, stop feeling like all of your Behind-the-scenes have to be photography related. If you're obsessed with bananas and eat them every day, lean into that. Because it is the person that you that ultimately makes someone want to do business WITH you.
Use Creative Visualization to set goals and dream bigger dreams
Creative visualization is the method by which you use your vivid imagination to picture your ideal future. (There's an amazing book all about it here). Creative visualization is all about imagining the best version of you possible and manifesting that into reality. (Contrary to popular belief manifesting is not some hippie dippie circle where you shut your eyes and dream and hope and take no action. You imagine, you align, and you work your ass off). ;)
Imagine the happiest and healthiest version of yourself. Where do you live? Who do you surround yourself with? What are you doing for a job? How much money do you make? Picture it. All of it.
Close your eyes and imagine a scene that is so vivid, so joyous, so ideal. Then lean into that vision with all your heart. Because if you can dream it, you can do it. Simple as that.
Think of this as a reverse roadmap. You are crystal clear on where you want to go and now you need to zoom out and look at the steps it will likely take you to get there.
Creative visualization is an incredible technique because it forces you to turn inward, get clear on what ideal looks like for you, and start crafting a future that is aligned with the dreams on your heart.
Whether you are saying adios to some services that no longer bring you joy, are going to implement creative visualization into your business, or are committed to showing your audience the real you, I hope this email helps you create more alignment in your life and biz.
